
Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS)
Pre-ETS help students with disabilities (ages 14–21) prepare for life after high school. These services are designed to build confidence, explore careers, and develop the skills needed for future education or employment.
The five core Pre-ETS services include


Job Exploration Counseling – about career option and personal job interests.
Work-Based Learning Experiences –Internships, job shadowing, and on-the-job training.
Workplace Readiness Training – Develop communication, teamwork, and independent living skills.
Instruction in Self-Advocacy – Build confidence to speak up about needs and goals.
Counseling on Postsecondary Education Opportunities – Explore college, vocational training, or career pathways.
Pre-ETS may be delivered through schools, community programs, or in partnership with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS). Students can access services through their school counselor, transition staff, or an MDRS Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) counselor.
Supported Employment Services


Supported Employment services include:
Person-Centered Planning – Identifying career goals, strengths, and needed supports.
Supported Employment helps individuals with disabilities who need ongoing support to find and keep meaningful jobs in the community. Services are individualized and focus on matching a person’s strengths and interests with the right employment opportunities.
Job Development & Placement – Resume building, interview practice, and job search assistance.
On-the-Job Supports – One-on-one job coaching, workplace training, and building natural supports on the job.
Long-Term Follow-Up – Continued support to help individuals succeed and grow in their careers.
What Vendors Can Provide in Kentucky


Pre-ETS (ages 14–21): Career exploration, workplace readiness, work-based learning experiences, self-advocacy training, and counseling on postsecondary opportunities.
In partnership with MDRS, Community Rehabilitation Providers (CRPs) and vendors can deliver
Supported Employment (adults): · Customized employment planning, job search and placement, job coaching, and long-term retention support.
